How it works

This tool fetches a page's Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags — title, description, and image — and shows a preview of exactly how the link will look when pasted into WhatsApp, Facebook, or X, without needing to actually share it anywhere.

A missing or oversized og:image is the most common reason a shared link shows no preview at all: WhatsApp and Facebook's crawlers both drop the image if it's too heavy or the tag isn't present.

This checks a page that's already live. If you're still writing the tags — for a new page, or to fix what this tool finds missing — the Meta Tags & Social Preview Generator builds them for you with a live preview before you publish.

Frequently asked questions

My og:image is set but no preview shows up when I share the link — why?

The most common cause is the image file being too large or the wrong aspect ratio — most platforms have file-size limits and expect roughly 1200x630px; if the crawler can't fetch it quickly, it silently drops the preview.

Why does the preview look different on WhatsApp vs Facebook?

Each platform's crawler caches and renders Open Graph tags slightly differently, and some also fall back to Twitter Card tags if Open Graph tags are missing — checking multiple platforms separately is worth doing if consistency matters.
